"M2M & THE CASE OF THE PERFECT TEEN POP DISCOGRAPHY CORPSE" Our shade of purple for ‘Mirror Mirror’ (Eddie’s Power Dance Mix)

"I enjoy the answer to the Age Old Question of “What would M2M sound like as a Eurodance duo?” but mostly too long and gets quite annoying by the end!" "not a great dance mix, and sounds horribly 7 Like, it’s fun I guess, but I’m just kinda eh about Chocolat: :7 "These are usually the kinda remixes that bore me ddd I’m sure that’s going to be an unpopular opinion. Ultimately, since it’s leaving now, I guess that mattered little! Now we’ll just have to wait & see how the other two versions fare. It goes on a bit too long & I probably did over score a tad. It paints the song in 3 very unique ways. The original, the ‘Crossover’ remix, & this Power Dance version. Since I knew I was going to title rate after 'Mirror Mirror', I decided include 3 versions here. So, I had to get creative to flesh out their representation. That said, once I decided I wanted 33 songs per act, M2M’s limited discography output fell a bit short. Normally I kind of subscribe to the rate theory of ‘rate whatever version of a song you like the best’. When I had my original idea for the rate I didn’t plan on including remixes. ’Mirror Mirror’ (Eddie’s Power Dance Mix) Our shade of purple for ‘Pretty Boy’ (Mandarin Version) (pop3: Filippa is not falling for the marketing gimmick, Atlantic 4 "Not a fan of singing songs in languages the singers don’t know." The early 00's were a weird time Is : 7.5 (pop3: As you'll discover more in the rate, they were oddly huge in some Asian markets. "Umm…this is cute…I guess? I am curious why/how it happened." (pop3: Yes! This commentary alone was worth its inclusion.)īlue (5 - Girl Girl: Chocolat: Is Death: 7.5 The track originally is superb and in this rendition extra special." I've dug around some and can't find out much about 10 (pop3: I would love to know how long it took them to learn & record it. "they must have spent hours trying to sing this phonetically, but I hope the effort was rewarded." (pop3: Yeah, there certainly is an other worldly vibe to this 9 "this is so weird….I’ve honestly never heard this version before and it’s jarring." Was it all just an international marketing gimmick from the label? Probably, but I almost don’t care. Certainly though, showing an audience you care enough to sing in their country helps. There are several reasons I can pin down for this & some that I find are intangible. While they did well in several English speaking countries, some Asian markets went M2M nuts. This really does play into how oddly global these girls went from the get-go. Secondly, in my obsession with ‘threes’ this rate… I liked the idea of having three languages represented. They were really ahead of the curve in breaking down barriers in international markets, as I’ll get into more. So, for that alone I wanted to include them to get some attention.

First off, the pure technical skill it took for two teenage Norwegian girls to learn Mandarin & sing it for a song is rather amazing to me. Look, I love for a few reasons & included it as such. Selected Asian Releases of Shades Of Purple - 2000 (pop3: It would appear most agree her since it's her first song Girl: 4 (pop3: For some reason 'sedate' made me Is Death: 10 " Lovely though a little too sedate for a stronger score!" Not sure if this the number 96 song in the rate, but alas, based on the quality of most of her stuff here I can actually kinda understand this being Marion’s first out. There’s just probably a better song or production in here.

Marion’s vocally is beautifully restrained, though. It does feel a bit ’slight’, I suppose…like maybe it is missing something. Admittedly not a personal fave from Songs From A Blackbird for me, I still think this is a sold album track.
